Vicki Nelson, M. Ed., Elementary Instruction Resource Coach. This is my 19th year in education with an emphasis in early childhood settings. Nearing the end of my first year as a coach, I look forward to the upcoming year with enthusiasm. I enjoy collaborating with other educators and participating in professional development opportunities.

Supporting First Year Teachers - Start Here
Supporting first year teachers in the current educational state of teacher turnover/recruitment means that instructional coaches provide multiple levels of support starting with the very basics of organization and management. We often support inductees who have a wide spectrum of experiences in classrooms, from full collegiate field experiences to alternative certification with no field experience. Join me as I discuss my journey as a first year mentor supporting first-year teachers in elementary schools. We will explore how to support ALL first year teachers: building relationships, establishing rhythms of contact, using/developing tools for observation and conversation, staying organized and how to know you're making a difference.
