About Nicole

Nicole S. Turner is a K-12 Master Coach, author, professional development trainer, current practitioner, and the Founder and CEO of Simply Coaching and Teaching Inc. She is the founder of the Simply Coaching Summit™—the first virtual summit exclusively for instructional coaches and teacher leaders--and the author of the books  Simply Instructional Coaching: Questions Asked and Answered from the Field and Simply Instructional Coaching 2.0: Foundations to Framework. Additionally, Nicole serves teachers as an Instructional Coach and Literacy Interventionist in Indianapolis, IN. She has 17+ years of K-12 classroom and leadership experience in positions such as classroom teacher, lead teacher, differentiated accountability coach, district and building-level instructional coach, assistant principal, dean of students, AdvancEd diagnostic review team member, and school improvement and turnaround specialist for the Indiana Department of Education.

Her professional memberships include Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Indiana State Teacher Association, Indiana State Reading Association, and the Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics. When Nicole is not serving teachers as an instructional coach and professional development leader, she can be found spending time with her family, which consists of a supportive fiancée, three biological children, and three bonus children.

Title: Tier, Coach, Grow: A Simple and Comprehensive Framework to Support Teachers through Instructional Coaching

Instructional leaders (i. e. coaches, principals, and teacher-leaders) work with teachers to improve the educational outcomes of their students. This role can be overwhelming especially when students and teachers have lost a year of full academic instruction. The question now is “Where do I begin to help teachers and students to make true instructional gains?” In this session, instructional leaders will gain access to a simple, yet comprehensive, framework for coaching that allows for differentiated support for teachers as well as a plan to deliver high-quality professional development. This framework introduces a quick strategy for identifying teacher needstips for developing a coaching plan, and strategies to use with teachers for support. Participants will walk away with a clear and achievable vision for making a difference in the classroom.

The Principal-Coach collaboration is not about competition or power struggles. It requires attention and strategic effort. The collaboration should result in a working relationship that is grounded in efforts to build teachers' toolkits and accelerate student growth.
