SESSION

“Unlocking Success: The Dynamic Duo of Intellectual Preparation and Collaborative Planning”

"Unlocking Success: The Dynamic Duo of Intellectual Preparation and Collaborative Planning" is a session aimed at instructional coaches to explore the impact of intellectual preparation and collaborative planning on their coaching practice with teachers in their building. The session takes participants through two planning sessions, one with intellectual preparation and one without. During the session, instructional coaches will be able to understand and experience the benefits of intellectual preparation and its impact on collaborative planning. The session aims to show that intellectual preparation goes beyond just having knowledge about the topic but involves a deep understanding of our students and analysis, enhancing the overall effectiveness of collaborative planning. The first simulated collaborative planning session without intellectual preparation allows participants to explore the challenges and limitations that arise when the essential element of intellectual preparation is missing. Supportive details will be provided through interactive discussions and real-life examples, capturing the full essence of intellectual preparation. Participants will actively engage with the process, reflecting on the outcomes and identifying areas for improvement. The second simulated collaborative planning session, with the benefit of intellectual preparation, will demonstrate the power of a well-prepared mind and its impact on planning outcomes. Participants will witness the advantages of prior knowledge, research, and analysis, leading to clearer and more focused planning discussions. The outcome of this session aims to inspire instructional coaches to embrace intellectual preparation as a vital part of their collaborative planning process. This session will focus on key aspects such as understanding the importance of intellectual preparation, exploring strategies to enhance intellectual preparation skills, analyzing its impact on collaborative planning, and identifying ways to integrate it into existing planning frameworks.
