About Julie
Julie Stern is a four-time, bestselling author with two decades experience facilitating adult learning. She supports educators and parents with tools to empower young people to make sense of complexity and use their learning to promote sustainability, equity, and well-being. Through keynotes, online courses, consulting, and writing, Julie teaches others how to become pattern seekers — recognizing the deeper patterns of the world — so that they can be who they want to be and build the type of world they want to live in. Her publications include Learning that Transfers, Visible Learning for Social Studies, The On-Your-Feet-Guide to Learning Transfer and Tools for Teaching Conceptual Understanding, Elementary and Secondary. Julie moves internationally every few years with her family.

Today's complex, ever-changing world requires something different. We can no longer be satisfied with "covering" content and skills. We need to teach young people how to recognize patterns and connect their learning to their lives. This session will focus on micro-moves that coaches can make to help teachers create a culture of pattern seeking in their classrooms. Less is truly more when it comes to deeper learning that transfers to students' lives.
